Day 2 - What’s next? The Word of God
Like most babies, the first thing they want is food. Food for all believers in this case is the Word of God.
How do you hear from a God you can’t see but everything around you testifies of His existence? How do you trust someone that you can’t see?
Well, look at it from this perspective; it is the same way we trust that the wind exists. Even though we don’t see it, we know it is there and look to the weather report for guidance.
In the same way we trust the weather report, we need to learn to trust in God and His Word. It’s true that the weather report doesn't always get it right but God doesn't lie, and His Word is 100% accurate.
‘As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.’ 1 Peter 2:2 (King James Version)
When you read God’s Word daily, it will nourish you and help you to renew your mind on a daily basis; it builds your spirit man. The same way your body requires food, you need the Word of God to grow and change. The Word of God deals with everything, and the Holy Spirit is with you to help you to understand.
‘Don’t fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener when you are anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other. Act on what you hear!’ James 1:22 (The Message)
It is important that you're acting on what you're reading, and to also digest the Word of God. When you don't let the Word of God transform you, you start reacting the same way a person’s body reacts when deprived of food.
It first starts internally but it will end up showing externally. We don't want that for you.
Our prayer is that you live that spirit-filled life God created for you, and everything that you do is blessed (James 1:25). In order to do this, you need to keep digesting the Word of God.
AN IMPORTANT NOTE FOR TODAY:
A constant prayer life is important to your journey. God has created this communication line because He wants to hear from you, and wants to speak to you. The more you engage with the Word of God, the more you have the words you need to pray; you don't have to make things up.
The Word of God is also full of examples of types of prayers, the power of prayer and people who prayed. It encourages you to keep praying; so get reading!
Task
· Start using the Psalms to pray, it’s a good place to start.
· Use your journal to write prayers for different things happening around you.
· Pray for leaders in the nation, bosses and colleagues at work/teachers and fellow students, or business partners.
Prayer
With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply.
Like this:
Our Father in heaven,
Reveal who you are.
Set the world right;
Do what’s best as above, so below.
Keep us alive with three square meals.
Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others.
Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil.
You’re in charge!
You can do anything you want!
You’re ablaze in beauty!
Yes. Yes. Yes. Matthew 6:13 (The Message)
