Day 5 - Getting plugged in
It is important that you plug in with the right people and the right church. The people around you will be crucial to your growth, as you embark on this journey with Christ.
In a world where there are a lot of influences and influencers, it is important that you are intentional about those around you, who will teach and encourage you.
Find people that love the things of God rather than the things of this world as together, you will be encouraged in your pursuit of God (1 John 2:15-17). Create your own Heaven experience on this side of eternity.
The Bible says:
“For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.” Romans 8:5 NKJV
The journey from salvation to sanctification is often experienced through discipleship.
It is highly recommended that you find someone that’s ahead of you in this journey that you can be comfortable enough to be honest and accountable to - you will not regret it. God has prepared people to guide and potentially mentor you in this journey, and a church family for you to be plugged into.
Our prayer is that you receive revelation and know exactly who those people are.
“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another” - Proverbs 27:17
Task:
Take some time to have a think about the people in your life and analyse whether they draw you closer to God or away.
Following that, be intentional about the people and things that bring you closer to God and draw back from other things that take you away.
Pray for those in your life that do not know Christ, and let your changed behaviour shine God’s light into their lives.
Prayer:
• Lord, give me the spirit of discernment to find the right people and church that will benefit my spiritual growth.
• Lord, help me to have the character to keep the people you have sent to me in my life. May I be a demonstrator of your love and character to those around me!
• Lord, fill me with your spirit. May the full and transformative power of your spirit be evident in my life!
